Welcome to Ignition Law’s ‘Igniting The Spark‘ series where we spend five minutes with inspiring entrepreneurs, talking about the key moments that defined their careers.
This month we caught up with Thea Brook, Founder of The Brook.
The Brook began life as a plant-based restaurant. Now, they make a range of innovative, premium dishes that sell nationwide both online and in retail.

Thea Brook, The Brook Founder
The moment that ignited the spark in me to start a business was:
Realising how incredible plant-based food could taste, when approached with a little imagination.
The toughest challenge I’ve faced is (and how I overcame it)…
My own imposter syndrome!
The biggest success has been…
Launching branded freezers in to major chains, such as Co-op, Budgens and Londis.
I’m very good at..…
Creating new dishes and menus from scratch (and putting out the daily ‘fires’ that come with growing a new business!)
The type of person I look to recruit is…
Excellent self-managers, who connect with our vision and can do their job far better than I could.
The part of my day I most look forward to is…
Connecting with the team – whether that’s to solve a challenge or hear about a win. For a long time, I ran the business by myself, so having a team is magic to me.
If I could give fellow entrepreneurs one piece of advice it would be…
Spend a significant amount of time working on your mindset and mental health. Everything and anything can be figured out if you can handle it mentally.
Outside of work I can be found…
In the gym, kitchen or bath!
My philosophy on life is…
Trust that the universe has your back, always. Sometimes you just need to get quiet enough to hear it.
